The Illinois Association of Court Appointed Special Advocates believes strongly in the continuing education of both program staff and volunteers.

Building off of the Core Competencies contained within the National CASA Pre-Service Volunteer Curriculum and complimented by crucial ancillary topics, Illinois CASA has strived to deliver a monthly ongoing training program that helps to build and maintain a strong and consistent staff and volunteer base.

Running through July 2019, each month both a Core Competency Training as well as an Ancillary Topic Training will be delivered. Topics ranging from Cultural Competence, LGBTQ issues, and Substance Abuse Education to Immigration, Self-Care, and Communication skills will be covered.

Illinois CASA is excited to have engaged local program Executive Directors to assist in delivering the Core Competency pieces of training, thereby highlighting the high level of expertise existing within the Illinois CASA network.

Upon completion of any of the in-service training opportunities on the Illinois CASA website, document your experience by completing the Illinois CASA In-Service Training Completion Form. You will automatically receive a copy of your responses, which you should then forward to your Local Program for its in-service training records. You should complete the form each time you complete a training opportunity.

We urge the local CASA program staff and volunteers to examine our Training Catalog and sign up early.  Any questions or comments regarding the trainings can be directed to Tami Wacker, Director of Program Development at
