Illinois CASA works to make sure that the voices of children in the child judicial system are heard not only in the courts but also at the Illinois Capitol. Illinois CASA engages in legislative advocacy efforts to better enable CASA volunteers to serve these children through the promotion of public policies.
In addition to direct advocacy by Illinois CASA staff, Illinois CASA inspires changes in the child welfare system by:
- Educating and organizing CASA volunteers to advocate with legislators and other public policy decision-makers,
- Researching policies to improve laws, policies and programs, and
- Recognizing leaders in the Illinois legislature, judiciary and private enterprise.
